What are China’s young people thinking about?
In today’s China, the population of people 16 to 30 years old has reached 322 million but in the mainstream media, these ordinary young people’s thoughts and voices are often drowned out. British photographer Adrian Fisk traveled 12,500 kilometers and had a group of young people write down their thoughts on paper. Their future is also China’s future.

Vast new cities of apartments and shops are being built across China at a rate of ten a year, but they remain almost completely uninhabited ghost towns. It’s all part of the government’s efforts to keep the economy booming, and there are many people who would love to move in, but it’s simply too expensive for most.
Video journalist Adrian Brown wanders through malls of vacant shops, and roads lined with empty apartment buildings… 64 million apartments are said to be empty across the country and one of the few shop owners says he once didn’t sell anything for four or five days. So are the efforts to boost the economy going to end up having the opposite effect and creating a financial crisis for China?

Chinese Traffic Jam Extends 60 Miles and 9 Days

a 62-mile traffic standstill on a road leading to Beijing is now in its ninth day, with individual drivers caught in it for as long as three days. The cause of the jam — beyond the skyrocketing number of drivers in China — is heavy use of the route, the Beijing-Tibet expressway, by trucks bringing construction supplies into Beijing.
China’s growth is just insane. It’s no wonder they’re proposing such radical ideas like the Straddling Bus.
21 Sq. Ft. Homes - Beijing’s Capsule Apartments Rent for Less than $35/month
Zhang Qi, a 25-year-old has taken up residence in a 21-square-foot capsule apartment to save on rent in order to help her family. Beijing’s capsule apartments were designed and built by a 72-year-old retired engineer and rent for less than a third of the standard Beijing apartment.
Zhang’s primary objection to Beijing’s capsule apartments is the fact that the toilet and shower are on a different floor of the complex. She is the first occupant of this smaller-than-a-jail-cell housing, but thinks that the apartments will appeal to other young people who want independence on a budget.
