iTunes’ Ping Needs a URL Shortener and itun.es Might Be It
So the big news in the Apple world today was that Ping added Twitter sharing functionality, opening up a new way of sharing music outside of the iTunes platform.

Unfortunately though, the tweeted URL that results isn’t as elegant as Apple standards would have you imagine. MacRumors did some digging around and found that Apple registered the itun.es domain back in 2006, which will hopefully be used to resolve this unsightly issue. After backing away from the original plans for Facebook integration, this could be the social step that Ping needs to garner some much needed attention.

An update and some clarification on Tweetie 2 for Mac
In fact, we’ve confirmed with Loren that it’s alive and well and he’s still progressing on Tweetie 2, even though with the acquisition and his new responsibilities, it’s taking longer than he originally anticipated. It’s also worth noting that he’s added another developer to help him move things along.
That’s a relief.
Tweet This Milestone: Twitter Passes MySpace
Last month the four-year-old micro-blogging service surpassed MySpace in unique visitors to become the No. 3 social networking-type service in the world, according to new data from comScore Inc. Twitter had nearly 96 million unique visitors in August, up 76% from the same period last year, comScore said. MySpace, meanwhile, dropped 17% during the same period, to 95 million unique visitors last month.
Impressive for Twitter. Expected for MySpace.
